Größer als gedacht sind die angekündigten Umstellungseffekte vom deutschen HGB hin zu dem internationalen Rechnungslegungsstandard IFRS bei HMS Bergbau. So kletterte das EBITDA (Ergebnis vor Zinsen, Steuern und Abschreibungen) für 2025 nach vorläufigen Auswertungen von 20,1 auf 59,4 Mio. Euro. Darin enthalten sind rund 37 Mio. Euro aus einmaligen Bewertungsanpassungen – allen voran durch die Erstkonsolidierung der in Botswana ansässigen Mehrheitsbeteiligung (51 Prozent) an der Kohlemine Maatla Resources. Unter dem Strich führt das zu einem von 13,2 auf 54,8 Mio. Euro verbesserten Gewinn nach Steuern. Derweil fiel der Umsatz des Rohstoffhandelsunternehmens um gut 10 Prozent auf etwa 1.220 Mio.
